Where Youth are Enriched through the Game of Golf

Welcome to Lake Chabot Junior Golf Academy

The Lake Chabot Junior Golf Academy is a community based, non-profit organization, with the sole purpose of helping the whole child through the game of golf. We not only teach golf but use this sport as a vehicle to build self-esteem, integrity, persistence, discipline, and respect. As they learn how to conduct themselves on the golf course, they will learn life lessons that can help them in everyday life.

Lake Chabot Junior Golf Academy

We endeavor to provide dedicated youth, mentorship, the elements of team building, and opportunities for one-on-one coaching. This allows each participant to grow through the challenges and overcome obstacles faced on and off the course.

Testimonial

Lake Chabot Junior Golf Academy

My nine year old son, Mason, has attended the Lake Chabot Junior Golf Academy since April 2008. It is something he wanted to do, so I was grateful that we stumbled upon the program and that the academy was willing to accommodate him.

Our Story

The Lake Chabot Junior Golf Academy (LCJGA) was formed in 1993 by Oakland Raider great Raymond Chester. The purpose of this program was to identify and develop leadership qualities such as accountability, teamwork, focus, and most importantly, self-confidence through golf; for youth living in the inner-city/underserved communities. Many of the participants have gone on to compete at high levels or teach/coach at high school, college, and other golfing venues. Several former students have also returned to teach new participants those same life values and golf training skills, which gave them a foundation for success many years ago.
Our program was formalized and organized as a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation and remains open to both girls and boys ages 8-18 years of age at NO COST, continuing to serve both inner-city youth and those in the surrounding areas.
